Maybe you already know about this illustrator/designer, but I have to tell you again because I am in LOVE with her stuff. You don't even know. If I knew where she lived, I would be over at her house all the time wanting to watch her work. And she'd get really annoyed with me always hanging out and breathing over her shoulder and just worshiping her and stuff. Maybe she'd have to call the cops because she has an art stalker. I would try to placate her with cupcakes and when the cops were hauling me away I would yell, "I thought what we had was special!" because I couldn't think of any witty "Mad Men" quotes off the top of my head.
When I was little I had an imaginary friend. He looked kind of like the Michelin Man, except he was a bit more square shaped. He was also pink. And he was made of bubble gum.
"Twenty years after the debut of “MST3K” (with a new DVD boxed set from Shout! Factory to celebrate the occasion), the show’s creators talk about the show as if it were a mad scientist’s experiment, one that could have been produced only under a precise set of conditions that are practically irreproducible today." Oh how I love you Mystery Science Theatre and I won't even go into that whole Joel vs. Mike argument - who cares! They both have their good points, can't we all just get along?
I do know I secretly loved Pearl Forrester the best . . . I mean she's my role model, after all. I too want to be an evil mad scientist and rule the world! I want flying monkeys. She has a gorilla. That's close enough. She has Brain Guy. I have David. Close enough. It's like we're twins isn't it?
Watch this and laugh . . . if you're drinking beer (or are in other ways chemically altered) it helps too.
Remember that episode of The Simpsons when Homer gives up beer, and he goes to a baseball game and he's the only one not drinking and he says that without beer "I never realized how boring this game is."
I suggest you drink beer while reading this blog . . . [More]
It's a cold, grey and rainy day - a perfect day to stay under the covers and watch old movies. If you have the same idea - and the time to spare - here are a few recommendations for your viewing pleasure:
If you're in the mood to laugh I suggest My Man Godfrey - the 1936 version is my favorite.
I saw this jewelry made out of Barbie pieces at Margaux Lange's Etsy shop (via Craft Magazine). Although I think the jewelry is very creative - if not a tad creepy - the image that really caught my eye was this one. [More]
Today, as Gabby and I huddle around the space heater she asks me again when we are going to turn the furnace on. I told her to put on a stocking hat. She did not. Her (heat) loss.
I should be cleaning. Instead I'm procrastinating. I'm starting to freak out about Thanksgiving already. I'm also supposed to babysit for my two nieces tonight which will be fun, but I'm not sure if they are coming over here or if we are going over there. It's a little easier to go over there because they don't have a large dog that will want to jump on them and knock them down and make them cry - but only because she loves them soooo much and want to play, play, play! She will calm down after awhile, but there usually has to be a little crying first.
Yesterday, I woke up and my knee was KILLING me. I mean I could barely walk - it hurt whenever I bent it. I don't know what I did, I guess I twisted it at some point, or hyper extended it or some crazy thing. So anyway, yesterday I was on some pain meds. It still hurts today, but it's getting better ("I don't want to go on the cart")*
