Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree With Anyone Else but Me

Here’s hint about what I’ve been doing lately!

Scarecrow: Come along Dorothy. You don’t want any of those apples.
Apple Tree: Are you hinting my apples aren’t what they ought to be?
Scarecrow: Oh, no! It’s just that she doesn’t like little green worms!

We’ve been so busy it’s really made time just fly by! There’s been homecoming – shopping for an outfit – it turned out to be black tights and a grey sweater dress with large dangly silver earrings – very cute. I would post pictures, but SOMEONE forgot to take their camera!  There was also a window that had to be painted to show school spirit. I was thrilled that I was asked to help. I love doing stuff like that and I’m glad that even though my daughter is 16 she doesn’t mind doing things with me. Their class won first place for the window that was a bonus too! A picture of that you say? Well, once again, someone would forget their head if it wasn’t attached.

We’ve also been busy with APPLES! Apples out the wazoo! There are two apple trees in our backyard and this year there has been a bumper crop let me tellya.  Last weekend we rounded up some help from neices and nephews and spent the day sorting through the ones that had fallen to the ground. The good ones we kept and the “bad” ones we piled up for the deer to eat. The deers love the apples and I see them out there every morning and evening having a little snack.

We also picked what we could reach from the trees. I won’t tell you about the hazardous conditions we made these kids work under. There was something about a ladder on a truck bed . . . I was the only one worried about it and luckily, nothing bad happened. We did get several bushels of apples that we’ve been busy peeling and freezing and cooking. The apples are sooooo delicious. If you lived nearby I would give you as many as you would take.  They’re very sweet and tangy – PERFECT for baking or just eating plain.

I love fall!
