So yeah, it’s been a busy week. We got the garden started. I didn’t take photos because really, it just looks like dirt right now. Gabby helped me plant onions, potatoes, lettuce, spinach and I went ahead and planted carrots too. I still need to replant the tomatoes, but it’s just been so hectic I haven’t had time for that yet.
Our sink that was leaking . . . yeah it kept leaking and ultimately we had to replace the sink, sink plumping, faucets, and garbage disposal. That little project took up a couple of days. I swear nothing ever works out like you think it’s going to. I bought the right size sink, but the way it fit into the counter was different than the old sink, so my brother had to come over with some saw that looks like a giant electric knife and trim out the counter top. When we went to install the faucet for the water filter, we discovered that someone at the store had opened the package and stolen a crucial fitting out of it – so that had to be returned so we would have all the correct parts. Finally, after several leaks, silicone caulking all over everything, all the junk that is stored under the sink just scattered willy nilly around the kitchen (and driving me CRAZY!) I think we now have everything working properly. Oh wait, I forgot that the water filter still needs to be hooked up because we need a connector part . . . argh!
The worst part of the week was having moments when you think everything is fixed and you put all the junk away and clean up all the tools and sawdust and what have you, only to find that there’s another little problem that needs worked on so you have to get everything out again and make another mess. Then you’re done and you clean up and then discover there’s something else. Now repeat that about eight times in two days and you’ll understand why I felt like I was going to lose it at one point and why there’s still nothing under the sink and all that junk is in the dining room and why there is a stack of tools near the toaster. I’m just waiting to make sure it really is ALL done.
